A judge in upstate New York ruled on Tuesday that it’s finally time for a 30-year-old man to move out of his parents’ home. The man’s parents, Mark and Christina Rotondo, of Camillus, N.Y., want to evict their son from their home and have him go get a job.
The couple says they’ve given several eviction letters to their son Michael over the past few months and even offered to help him financially if he’d move out. They offered him $1,100 to find another place to stay, but Michael refused to leave. So, they took him to court to have a judge propel his move-out.
Michael asked the judge for six more months in his parents’ home. But the judge called the request “outrageous,” and Michael responded by calling the judge’s eviction order “outrageous.” Michael argued in court that his parents did not support him by providing food or doing his laundry and that they were only providing him with housing, which is why he needed six more months before he could leave.
State Supreme Court Justice Donald Greenwood asked the parents’ lawyer to draft an eviction order. Michael told reporters he plans to appeal the court’s decision.
