Calif. vs. Fla. in Fight for ‘Digital Nomads’
If permanent work-from-home employees can move wherever they want, where do they go? According to Airbnb, Fla. is one of the top two destinations.
NEW YORK – Some U.S. workers never have to go back to the office after their temporary remote work during COVID-19 lockdowns became permanent. And many are embracing the ability to work from anywhere, booking spaces across the country to use as temporary offices and homes.
According to Airbnb, California and Florida are these digital nomads’ top destinations. The top five cities for long-term stays in the first quarter of this year were:
- La Quinta, California
- Delray Beach, Florida
- Marco Island, Florida
- Palm Springs, California
- Indio, California
Many of those places are geographically similar to locations available on Airbnb for long-term stays.
California leads the list with a few “move-in ready” cities, which Airbnb classifies as having more than 1,000 listings. Irvine and Los Angeles, California, are the No. 1 and No. 2 locations in this category, followed by Cincinnati, Ohio, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Seattle, Washington.
