Former Apple CEO John Sculley and his wife, Diane Poli Sculley, have parted with their custom home at 127 Reef Road, having already upsized to another North End home.
They sold the mid-block house for $6 million to West Palm Beach attorney Lewis F. Crippen as trustee of The Bloomsday Trust, according to the deed recorded April 24 by the Palm Beach County Clerk’s office. The trust is affiliated with Palm Beach businessman and developer John Flynn Sr. and his wife, Leona “Lee” Flynn, according to public records.
And unlike the Sculleys, the Flynns are downsizing.
Completed in 2015, the Bermuda-style residence has 4,808 square feet of living space, inside and out. It stands nine streets north of the oceanfront house at 1214 N. Ocean Blvd. the Sculleys bought in January for a recorded $14.925 million. And its about 2 miles north of the house the Flynns built a decade ago at 300 Ridgeview Drive.
John Sculley, who headed Apple between 1983 and 1993, is famous for firing the company’s co-founder, the late Steve Jobs. Jobs later returned to lead the company. Before he joined the computer company, Sculley was president of Pepsi-Cola. His career since Apple has involved a number of companies, many with a technology focus.
A former executive with Wittmann Building Corp., Diane Sculley used a limited liability company to buy the Reef Road property for $900,000 in 2010, about 15 months before her marriage to John Sculley. The custom home, which replaced an outdated house on the quarter-acre lot, was built Wittmann. It has two bedrooms, according to property records. The Sculleys had it homesteaded in the latest tax rolls.
In last week’s off-market sale, Fite Group agent Paula Wittmann represented the Sculleys, just as she did when they bought their five-bedroom home in January.
Wittmann declined to comment. So did agent Toni Hollis, of Waterfront Properties and Club Communities, who with colleague Gloria Moré represented the buyer in the Reef Road transaction. Hollis and Moré have the Flynns’ six-bedroom, 8,970-square-foot house at 300 Ridgeview Drive under contract, priced at $15 million. In Palm Beach, the Flynns, whose roots are in Ireland, developed a pair of town houses at 176 and 180 Sunset Ave. They sold new, respectively, in 2016 and 2017, for $5.65 million and $5.9 million.
The Flynns own their Georgian-inspired house on Ridgeview Drive through the same trust that bought the property on Reef Road, property records show. It is homesteaded in Lee Flynn’s name.
The Sculleys bought their new home on North Ocean Boulevard when it was listed for sale by agents Payton Smith and Richard Steinberg, of Douglas Elliman Real Estate. The 6,469-square-foot house was sold to them by an ownership company controlled by hedge fund manager Davd Fiszel and his wife, Sarah. Although the 1951 house had been renovated, the Sculleys are carrying out a down-to-the-studs redo of their own, according to town records.
